Pine Hills has a rich history as home to the Creek Indians in the early 19th century. The land was used for a sawmill in the mid-1800s and a corn and wheat mill in the late 1800s. Residential development took off after World War II and the homes today are a mix of original 1950s homes and newer builds from the last two decades. The neighborhood is home to the Roxboro Valley Association Swim and Tennis Club where members have enjoyed their summers for over 60 years.
